Dr. Alice Hope Banga is an accomplished Veterinary Surgeon and seasoned agribusiness leader with more than three decades of experience in Uganda’s veterinary and livestock sector. She holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine from Makerere University and a Master of Business Administration from ESAMI. She further trained in Dairy Farming in Rural Development at the International Development Centre in Wageningen, The Netherlands, and has completed several specialised short courses in poultry hatchery management, East Coast Fever vaccination, Rinderpest control, and veterinary diagnostics.
Dr. Banga began her career in public service, working in the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries and later in Local Government, where she contributed to veterinary extension and frontline animal health services. In 1995, she moved into the private sector and founded Eram (U) Ltd, serving as Director of Finance and Administration to date. She has extensive experience in the importation and distribution of veterinary pharmaceuticals, vaccines, supplements and livestock equipment, establishing herself as a leading figure in Uganda’s veterinary input supply industry.
She is widely travelled, having visited all continents except Australia, and has toured multiple international poultry and fish hatcheries, pharmaceutical manufacturing plants, and vaccine laboratories. These visits have given her practical insights into global animal health production processes and quality systems.
Dr. Banga has served in several governance and professional leadership roles, including Board of Trustee of GALVmed and the Uganda Veterinary Association, Vice Chairperson of the Uganda Meat Producers Association and the Uganda Poultry Association, and former Board Member of the Dairy Development Authority. She has also served as Treasurer of the Uganda Veterinary Association for over 15 years and remains active in the Uganda Small Animals Practitioners Association, Uganda Women Veterinary Association, and the Uganda Veterinary Input Suppliers Association.
She is a member of the Rotary Club of Kololo and an active congregant of All Saints Cathedral, Kampala.
